Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto Congratulates Ghanaian Workers on International Labour Day
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, an aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken the opportunity to congratulate Ghanaian workers on this year’s International Labor Day celebrations. In a statement released on Sunday, April 30, 2023, he expressed his trust in the workers’ ability to contribute to the nation’s development.
May Day, also known as International Labor Day, is celebrated annually on May 1 worldwide in recognition of workers’ struggles and achievements. It serves as a reminder of the rights and opportunities workers should receive for their welfare and betterment.
This year’s May Day has been declared a Statutory Public Holiday in Ghana by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery. The President of the Republic of Ghana is expected to address workers in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto, who is also the immediate past Minister of Food and Agriculture, acknowledged the significant contributions of Ghanaian workers to the country’s economic growth and stability. He congratulated workers on their hard work and wished them well in the years to come.
“For the most part, Ghanaian workers deserve commendation, considering their enormous contributions to the country’s economic growth and stability. As we celebrate International Labor Day, I congratulate you on your hard work and wish you well in the years ahead of us. Ayekoo,” he stated in his message.
